Banner of Hope

Moses built an altar, and he called it The Lord is my Banner.

Exodus 17:15

Banner 2

Banner of Hope was rescued on Good Friday, April 12, 2011. She is a paint mare who is approximately 11 years old.

We brought her home with a severe injury to her leg. Muscle and tendon were exposed due to a large area of skin that had been ripped off at some point during transportation. The vet estimated that the wound had been left untreated and exposed for at least four days.

The team had prayed and dreamed of the horse that would be rescued in 2011.

Several members felt that God had led them to certain Bible verses that included the word banner; others felt that the horse would represent hope. We also felt a leading to look for a palamino horse perhaps with a family. While at the auction no horse fit this description. But, there was one who stood out because she had a marking that looked like a banner.

This perfect paint has turned out to be a wonderful horse. She is a gentle soul that has been waiting to blossom. Her spirit touches everyone. She’s a quick learner and patient teacher. She is not, yet, part of the therapy program but there is no doubt that she will nurture a child very soon.

What we learned from God through this experience is that sometimes when we think we’ve heard God loud and clear we need to be willing to take a different turn. God’s voice can get lost in our own hopes and dreams when we stay too focused on ourselves. But, when we keep our hearts fully exposed to God’s leading he will show us the perfect picture. It may not be what we expected but it will always be perfect.
