John 15:5

Horse Rescue Team

"For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost." - Luke 19:10

True Vine Equestrian Center’s Horse Rescue Team was started by Faith Gunderson, one of our high school volunteers, in November of 2006.  She had been given forty dollars by her Sunday School teacher and challenged to pray about how God would have her use this money for the Lord.  After several months of praying she decided to start our horse rescue team.  Another volunteer, Emilia Ertz, agreed to help along with program director Vickie Nakamura and board member Nancy Wheatley.  The team was soon formed and began meeting in the fall of 2006.  The meetings consisted of Bible study, learning horse care and planning fundraising.  Our team wanted to rescue at least one horse per year, with the goal of sharing Christ through the horse rescue experience.

Jesus Christ came to save us even though we are sinful and undeserving. Christ receives us, redeems us and provides us with strength, protection, mercy and love. Our goal is to provide these same gifts that Christ has given us to horses that desperately need our help. We also hope to bring people into a closer relationship with God by using the rescue horse stories as opportunities to share about of how God saves us from sin. After rescuing the horses, we either fit them into our program or adopt them out to loving homes.

We have captured some of our rescue horses in video.  To view these, please go to our Media page.
